Fall is in the air and what better way than to celebrate than with a Fabulous Fall Centerpiece.  In this post I will describe how I created 19 captivating centerpieces complete with dozens of pictures.

Pumpkins and gourds are the star of any centerpiece.  No matter what color or shape I always look for an interesting stem and when I take it home I never pick it up by the prized stalk.  A little tail on the end is always fun too!

Centerpiece on a Dining Table

#1 - Dining Table

First I started with the three unique pumpkins laid out on 3 placemats – a table runner would work too.  All 3 pumpkins are different, however, the two on the right that are blush and light green colored pick up on the larger two toned one on the left. The hydrangea (Pinky Winky – I just love that name) cut from my garden also follows the same color palette.

TIP: When two pumpkins are next to each other, set the smaller one up slightly on one end – I used a long pine cone

 

The curly willow branches laid in the center were cut from my friend’s apple orchard, along with the bittersweet berry branches.  

 

The red leaves were cut from alongside the road.  The lime green hedge apple purchased at the local grocery store adds an unexpected pop of color.

The back is just as attractive as the front.

TIP: It is OK and actually more interesting to have the items fall off the ends of the placemat or runner

#2 - Dining Table

This centerpiece is very similar to the first, but with more emphasis on the twisting branches.  Just like the first, there are 3 pumpkins, but these are all orange.  However, one is covered in interesting warts.  Unlike the first I chose to place a metal tray filled with artificial rustic harvest items in the center.  The faux berry sticks and autumn leaves came from a craft store.

#3 - Coffee Table

This pumpkin has the coolest stem!  It fits perfectly on a vintage silver tray surrounded by resin birds sitting atop pinecones and acorns.  So as not to be too predictable 3 birds are staggered on the right side with the fourth slightly behind and on the left.

#4 - Round Tray

Nothing is easier than grouping pumpkins and gourds in a large round tray.  Mine looks different every year.  

Once in a while I make a symmetrical arrangement.  My 4 resin birds surround a  simple pie pumpkin.  Pine cones and faux berries and leaves fill in the rest.

#5 - Round Tray

Another pumpkin with a fantastic stem!  Plus, lots of gourds, some even with warts.  One is even trying to escape over the edge.

I loved this yellow pumpkin with green stripes.  The three pie pumpkins give the pre-requisite orange color and the white miniature pumpkins break up all the yellow and orange.

#7 - Fall Floral

It is always sad to see the end of my summer flower garden, but there are still some plants that make a beautiful floral centerpiece.

Fireworks Goldenrod is striking in a rustic vase on my kitchen table backed with a yellow and blue curtain.

#8 - Fall Floral

The blue/violet color of Monkshood is always worth the wait.

The burnt red color of Autumn Fire Sedum is beautiful in this antique silver pitcher and next to my rustic metal tray filled with faux harvest nuts.

A tall airy arrangement in a silver vase is surrounded by pumpkins and gourds in a wicker basket.

Centerpieces in Bowls

#11 - Fall Bowl

A primitive wood bowl, found years ago at Home Goods, is filled with faux autumn mix and sits on my sofa table.  The glass pumpkin adds a modern twist to the rustic arrangement.

#12 - Fall Bowl

This resin bowl made to look of wicker is filled with just 5 items and sits on the kitchen counter.

#13 - Fall Bowl

Although it is new, this primitive style bowl found at Hobby Lobby is perfect for an arrangement of pumpkins and pinecones.  I like that they are not totally contained in the bowl.

Centerpieces in Trays

#14 - Fall Tray

The Fireworks Goldenrod in a tiny vase rises above this arrangement of pumpkins, pinecones, and curly willow branches.  The white pumpkin gives just the right added twist.

#15 - Fall Tray

I created this miniature arrangement for my mothers small dining table.  The simple fall ribbon tied to the end completes the look.

Centerpieces for Fall Dinner Party

#16 - Chili Party

What better way to bring in the season then with a hot bowl of chili.  And, what better way than to share with friends.  With this centerpiece the mercury candles absolutely glow against the rustic pine cones, birch stumps, and pine foliage.  Complementing the look are wood chargers at each place setting.

#17 - Thanksgiving Table

Pumpkin pie at a Thanksgiving meal is a must.  Thus, these pie pumpkins are the star of this centerpiece.  The pumpkin on the birch stump adds vertical visual interest.  The round tray arrangement featured in #6 above anchors the end of the table.

#18 - Thanksgiving Table

My friend, Diane, created a magical table with pumpkins, vines, candles and fairy lights.  Notice how the turkey sits on the antique books, not parallel, but at an angle.

#19 - Thanksgiving Table

The last arrangement in this post is a beautiful centerpiece with a lovely ceramic turkey, two unique pumpkins, faux autumn berries and leaves, rustic pine cones, resin birds on acorns, and glimmering mercury candles.  Every side is captivating for dinner guests.
